It takes special skill and compassion to care for those living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. At Broadway House for Continuing Care, five employees recently completed a certification seminar that provided valuable tools for healthcare practitioners to diagnose and care for our residents. The key: Responding with sensitivity and compassion.

Through the seminar offered by the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners, the Broadway House professionals learned how to recognize, care for, and be more sensitive to the diagnosis of dementia. Participants also acquired tools to rule out other diagnoses before determining a dementia diagnosis and to incorporate sensitivity to diversity into everyday care.

Broadway House employees who completed the certification on Jan. 28 are now considered Certified Dementia Practitioners. They are:
