Resident Profiles

“I want the best for myself.”

At Broadway House for Continuing Care, love surrounds Doreen and her long journey to a better life. A Newark resident and recovering addict, she left the city several years ago, but soon found herself homeless. Surrounded by drugs, she relapsed and became severely depressed. After a hospital stay, Doreen arrived at Broadway House.

Thanks to Broadway House, Doreen has received the comprehensive medical care and behavioral support she needed to beat her drug addiction and regain control of her life. The structure provided here has been important to her recovery.

Today, the constant support of her doctors, nurses, and other Broadway House staff members means a lot to Doreen. Two years after arriving here, Doreen has big post-discharge plans: “I’m so grateful to be at Broadway House. It has taken me a while to change, but now I can see a vision for my future. I want to explore the world. I want to get my driver’s license. I want to go back to school. Most of all, I want the best for myself.”
